On 19 January 2024, the Institute of International Economic Relations (IIER) organised a webinar on “Taiwan’s Prospects Under Its New Administration”.
The panel brought together Mr Ming-Shih Shen from the Institute for National Defense and Security Research (INDSR) from Taiwan, Ms Helena Legarda from the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS) from Germany and Ms Zsuzsa Ferenczy from the National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan.
The discussion, which was moderated by IIER’s Mr Plamen Tonchev, covered three main areas:
– Factors that shaped the election results;
– The future of cross-strait relations;
– International implications of the new set-up in Taiwan.
